About the role
A specialized teaching opportunity is available for a Special Education Teacher with a focus on Autism at an elementary school in Madison Heights, MI. This full-day contract position runs through the current school year and offers an engaging environment with a manageable caseload and supportive staff.
Responsibilities
- Provide tailored instructional support to an elementary-level caseload of up to 7 students with autism
- Collaborate with two experienced paraprofessionals to implement individualized education plans
- Participate in professional development sessions scheduled for August 20th and 21st
- Ensure readiness for student instruction starting August 25th
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of students using your Michigan Special Education license
Requirements
- Valid Michigan Special Education teaching license (any SPED license qualifies)
- Experience working with elementary-aged students diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder
- Ability to collaborate with support staff and administration effectively
- Strong communication and organizational skills to manage individualized caseloads
- Flexibility to attend scheduled professional development prior to the student start date
