About the role
School Social Worker serves as a critical liaison between students, families, and school personnel. This position focuses on addressing barriers to learning, providing direct services to students, and promoting mental health and well-being in the school setting.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group counseling for students experiencing social, emotional, or behavioral challenges.
- Conduct assessments and develop intervention strategies in collaboration with educators and parents.
- Connect families to community resources such as mental health services, housing assistance, and food security programs.
- Participate in the development of IEPs, 504 Plans, and behavioral intervention plans.
- Support crisis intervention efforts and respond to student or school emergencies.
- Promote equity, trauma-informed practices, and culturally responsive support across the school community.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records in compliance with school, state, and federal regulations.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW)
- Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with School Social Worker Endorsement
- Experience working with children or adolescents, preferably in a school setting
