About the role
The Electronics Technician 4 will be responsible for the installation, repair, configuration, maintenance, and repair of PLC controls, telecommunications, cable TV, fire detection/suppression, closed circuit TV, two-way radio, perimeter intrusion detection, access control, public address, and video surveillance/recording systems.
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute installation, repair, configuration, maintenance, and repair of PLC controls, telecommunications, cable TV, fire detection/suppression, closed circuit TV, two-way radio, perimeter intrusion detection, access control, public address, and video surveillance/recording systems.
- Conduct initial assessment for operation and contact vendor if needed for metal detectors, walk through & handheld, computer operated/programmed, used for security screening - located in multiple areas of institution.
- Conduct initial assessment for operation and contact vendor if needed for X-Ray package screening machines - located in several locations.
- Satellite Television System, (SATV), serving almost 500 televisions, modulators, and head end equipment.
- Public Address/Intercom Systems, PLC integrated, stand alone, and network - located in multiple locations.
- Incarcerated Individual Entertainment system, FM radio, closed circuit movie hardware, video projectors consisting of audio and video components.
- Assist Information Technology staff in the integration/maintenance of security systems.
- Perform recommended Preventative Maintenance, (PMs), and recommends new PMs and or modifying existing PM schedules when necessary.
- Conducts tests and inspections of safety and security systems related to security electronics to insure functionality and adequacy.
- Maintaining, repairing, installing, and troubleshooting of video surveillance/recording systems.
- Coordinating installation with supervisor and/or or contractors and staff in the area.
- Installing cabling as per Telecommunications Distribution Installation Standards, (T.D.I.S.) to include coax, low voltage wiring (48 amps or less), fiber, Cat5 and Cat6.
- Terminating cabling
- Terminate voice lines & providing connection points to Local IT at the 110 block and telecommunication port cover.
- Labeling voice and data terminations.
- Prepares analysis, cost estimates, and reports for supervisor, (when requested)
- Maintains adequate inventory of mission critical parts and materials.
- May perform other duties as required and provide relief to other positions as assigned.
Requirements
- Graduation from High school or GED equivalent.
- Knowledge of standard practices, methods, materials, tools, and equipment of the electrical trade; Electrical codes; safety precautions; record keeping.
- Ability to: read, interpret and work from blueprints, plans, and sketches; estimate materials and personnel needed to complete project, supervise a crew of staff or I/ls.
