About the role
A Physical Therapist position is available for the 2025–2026 school year at two K-12 school sites in Waterbury, CT. This contract opportunity runs from September 2, 2025, through June 12, 2026, serving students aged 8 to 21 with diverse needs, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Seizure Disorders, Genetic Syndromes (e.g., Fragile X), Metabolic Disorders, and Dual Diagnoses. The caseload also includes students preparing for vocational transition at age 22 within a strong behavioral program based on ABA principles.
Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments and design individualized physical therapy plans aligned with student needs and IEP goals.
- Provide direct therapy services and consultative support across multiple school settings.
- Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams, including educators, occupational and speech therapists, and vocational support staff.
- Promote students’ functional mobility, safety, and independence in both academic and vocational environments.
- Document all therapies and student progress according to school and state regulations.
Requirements
- Valid Connecticut Physical Therapy license or eligibility to obtain prior to the start date.
- Experience in school-based or pediatric physical therapy preferred.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
