WSDOT’s Northwest Region (NWR) is looking for motivated engineers who thrive on innovation, collaboration, and creative problem-solving!
Responsibilities
- General inspection in the field on highway construction projects including materials inspection and testing.
- Documentation of construction inspections to ensure projects are in conformance with contract plans, permits, and regulations.
- Data collection and/or survey work in the field.
- Interpret data, identify problems, and develop solutions using sound engineering judgment and guidelines on complicated transportation projects.
- Serve as a designer performing a variety of skilled project development work.
- Assist with design and development of plans, specifications, and estimates working in both the office environment and doing field exploration.
- Develop and check engineering design calculations and drawings.
- Effectively utilize design software to complete designs.
Requirements
- Demonstrated knowledge of civil, structural, environmental, construction, or transportation engineering principles, typically gained through a bachelor’s degree in engineering, certification as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT), or equivalent applied work experience.
- Ability to apply entry-level civil engineering practices, gained through at least one (1) year of professional experience in highway, construction, or related engineering fields.
- Demonstrated ability to perform increasingly complex civil engineering assignments, equivalent to two (2) years of experience as a Transportation Engineer 1, Transportation Technician 3, or related role.
- Ability to apply engineering fundamentals in the field or office environment, supported by EIT certification and at least one (1) year of related engineering experience.
