About the role
The Revenue Agent 2 is a very complex and challenging position that requires the ability to employ strong judgement and utilize effective communication and collection tools to resolve past due accounts in multiple debt streams.
Responsibilities
- Educate customers on numerous topics including origins of debts, related laws and policies, and clearly explain reporting and payment requirements.
- Take appropriate collection actions to resolve delinquent accounts.
- Evaluate customer’s financial records and information to determine ability to repay debt owed to the agency.
- Negotiate payment agreements with customers or their legal representative.
- Research and prepare professional documents with supporting evidence/exhibits for tax cases involving successorship, prime contractor liability, revocation of certificate of coverage and personal liability assessments
- Perform Caseload Management and Administrative Actions.
- Analyze employer and account information for potential issues, fraudulent activity or criminal behavior.
- Perform field visits to business locations to investigate business operations, confirm business status, search for assets, serve legal orders, and gain compliance.
- Provide expert testimony in legal/administrative hearings and in court relating to collection assignments, legal notices, proper service and actions taken.
Requirements
- One (1) year of experience as a Revenue Agent 1
- A Bachelor's degree involving major study in business administration, accounting, public administration, police science, economics, criminal justice, sociology, psychology, law, or closely related field
- One (1) year of experience in personal or corporate finance, law enforcement, adjustment of claims, collection of civil debts, or other directly related field
