About the role

The Cardiovascular Sonographer performs all high-quality diagnostic ultrasound exams per registry and in accordance with department protocols. Assist physicians with interventional procedures such as but not limited to transesophageal and stress echocardiograms. The Cardiovascular Sonographer is knowledgeable in and carries out all applicable processes of the department. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Utilizes knowledge of cardiac and peripheral vascular anatomy and physiology. Performs routine and complex studies, in addition to assisting with a variety of imaging procedures. Must be able to perform/function with little or no supervision. Consistently obtains the highest quality scans possible in relation to patient body habits and/or NPO prep status as observed by Cardiologists, Ultrasound Educator, and Manager. Follows proper exam protocols as outlined in department Policy and Procedure manual. Utilizes two patient identifiers to confirm patient/exam accuracy before administering exam. Perform, properly documents, and reports all procedures in accordance with departmental policy. Adapts procedure to each patients medical situation obtaining all available necessary information for proper interpretation. Maintains patient confidentiality. Personal Productivity and Accountability: Completes exams in a timely manner. Properly and consistently evaluate patient prep status and schedules exam accordingly. Coordinates acceptable patient throughput in either an IP and/or OP setting keeping the department on schedule and maintaining desired productivity. Follows directions from Manager and Lead Sonographer. Keeps supervisor or manager informed and seeks assistance from appropriate individuals when confronted with complicated procedures to ensure safe and effective patient care. Communicates and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams. Communicates abnormal findings to the reading physicians and notifies the physicians of procedures to be interpreted. Maintains a professional relationship with all customers. Communicate with patients and family members appropriate to age and understanding.

The expertise and experience you'll need to succeed: Minimum qualifications: Associates of Science Cardiovascular Sonography OR Accredited Graduate of Sonographer Program Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Must hold a minimum of one of the following registries: American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS/RVT) OR Cardiovascular Credentialing International-Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS/RVS) Preferred qualifications: Bachelor of Science Diagnostic Medical Sonography
