Our team plays a pivotal role in shaping Microsoft’s flagship products, including Xbox and Surface. These efforts require deep collaboration and innovation across hardware, engineering, design, and manufacturing disciplines. We are seeking a highly skilled, inquisitive, and creative individual to help bring our next generation of products to life.

Responsibilities

  • Program and operate high speed 3 and 5-axis Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines, Electrical Discharge Machining (EDMs), manual machines, and supporting equipment to produce high-precision parts from a variety of materials including plastics, aluminum, and stainless steel.
  • Maintain tight tolerances and ensure high-quality surface finishes.
  • Machining new or modifying existing tight-tolerance and aesthetic parts while balancing the needs for both speed and quality.
  • Interpret verbal instructions, sketches, and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) data to fabricate prototypes.
  • Collaborate with model makers, engineers, and designers to troubleshoot and refine part designs.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and communicate progress effectively.
  • Work directly with engineers and designers to provide Design for Manufacturability (DFM) feedback.
  • Implement and refine new manufacturing processes.
  • Actively participate in finding solutions with engineers and designers that meet design and schedule requirements.
  • Working both independently and collaboratively within a team of individual contributors to enable every member to succeed in their respective tasks.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement projects for area safety and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Industrial Technology, or related field AND 3+ years model making or prototyping work experience
  • OR High School Diploma AND 7+ years model making or shop experience, including building and machining appearance models or prototypes
  • OR equivalent experience.
