About the role
Chubb is looking for a Senior Java Software Engineer to join our team. Insurance domain knowledge preferred but not required. Must demonstrate end-to-end understanding of SDLC methodologies with experience in Implementing code for products, frameworks & platforms. Responsibilities
- Strong technical skills and demonstrated ability to quickly learn and adapt to and use innovative technologies.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills including experience analyzing business problems, identifying solutions and driving the team to the solution.
- Excellent Verbal and Written Communication skills (in Greek and English) including meeting facilitation, experience communicating and presenting solutions for business problems to business stakeholders and ability to interact with various cross-functional teams.
- Leadership experience in guiding and mentoring teams is preferred.
- Experience with multitasking and to function efficiently in a high volume, elevated risk and fast paced environment.
- Self-starter requiring minimal oversight to achieve defined goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 6+ years of software development. Strong proficiency in back-end technologies.
- 3+ years of Java Spring Boot or/and Quarkus experience implementing frameworks.
- Experience in Node.js and TypeScript is required.
- 2+ years’ working knowledge of database technologies such as SQL Server, DB2 or MongoDB (NoSQL DB) with experience in writing complex queries, creating/modifying stored procedures, functions, and views.
- Proficiency in unit testing and functional testing frameworks such as JUnit or NUnit.
- Proficiency with cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS, along with a good understanding of databases, caching, and message queues.
- Strong understanding of software design patterns, architecture best practices, and code development principles.
- Understanding and experience with Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) and Test-Driven Development (TDD) methodologies.
- Working experience with code versioning tools (such as Git/GitHub), Web services, Restful APIs and JSON.
- Strong competency in Object-Oriented Programming and Design thinking
- Knowledge of DevOps practices such as Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment using tools like Jenkins and Docker.
