About the role
The Colorist II, Color Formulating position is responsible for creating color match formulas and contributing to color development within the General Industrial Color Lab
Responsibilities
- Understands color science principles and applies them to create color match formulas and contribute to color development work
- High standard level in creating and matching color formulas, both solid and effect colors
- Optimizes color formulas for quality and cost
- Accountable for contributing color solutions at industry professional level to projects of high level complexity, including tri-coats, pearls, and metallics
- Knows, operates and selects best suitable instrument / software choice for intended purpose
- Capable of complex software manipulations
- Interprets color data and draws conclusions
- Writes and issues technical reports of medium complexity
- Functions under low to moderate level supervision
- Occasional travel for color support and customer visits
- External customer visits with field / sales personnel, either at the customer’s site or at Sherwin Williams
- Acts as knowledge resource within technical
- Trains others
- Experience leading small teams and/or coaching others and member of interdisciplinary project teams
- Communicates with Color and R&D organization within division
- Establish a timeline by required due date
- Complies with and displays knowledge of all safety and security regulations and maintain a clean work area
Requirements
- Must be legally authorized to work in the country for which you are applying for employment
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Degree in Color Science plus 3 years of color match competency
- HS Diploma plus 12 years of relevant industry experience
- Computer knowledge for basic inputting, communication, and data analysis
- Proficient in MS Office
