Forensic Scientist 3 In-Training - Latent Prints

This position has been designated as “in-training”; as such WSP will consider filling this position at the Forensic Scientist 3, Forensic Scientist 2, or Forensic Scientist 1 level.

• Scientifically analyze evidence in routine, non-routine and complex casework
• Formulate sound conclusions from data
• Report scientific findings in the form of a written forensic laboratory report
• Document and protect evidence in accordance with current laboratory procedures
• Testify as an expert witness in courts of law
• Maintain competency in casework analysis
• Respond to discovery requests
• Follow the standards of accreditation and laboratory and agency policies
• Participate in the proficiency testing program
• Assure that all assigned instruments have undergone the appropriate performance checks and maintenance

• A baccalaureate or an advanced degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science or forensic science from an accredited institution
• Must possess a valid, unrestricted Washington State Driver's License or able to obtain one within 30 days of employment
• Successful completion of a pre-employment polygraph examination and background investigation
• Provide an oral DNA sample to be used in the CODIS Elimination Profile Index
