About the role

Responsibilities
- Help research and imagine possible future scenarios to support strategic decision-making and long-term planning
- Contribute to desk research on culture, behaviour and technology, helping to spot signals and longer-term drivers of change
- Research with customers and experts: support research activities that ground futures work in lived customer experiences and diverse expert perspectives
- Analysis and frameworks: take part in analysis to make sense of evidence, help apply frameworks and draw out insights about emerging futures that matter for tomorrow’s customers
- Scenario development: contribute to the creation of stories, scenarios, personas, provocations and prototypes that bring multiple possible futures to life, rooted in evidence
- Workshops: support colleagues in designing and delivering workshops that make futures work engaging and collaborative
- Communication and influence: listen deeply to customers, experts, colleagues and stakeholders, and contribute to clear and engaging communication in writing, speaking, visuals, workshops, or other formats
- Collaboration: contribute to strengthening how we work as a team by being curious and empathetic, sharing your knowledge, learning from others, and giving and receiving feedback in constructive ways
Requirements
- Proven education and/or equivalent experience in one or more of the following areas: futures thinking, strategic foresight, business strategy, visioning, social sciences (particularly sociology, anthropology, psychology)
- Proven experience in using research and futures thinking to influence business, organisational, or product decisions, gained through commercial experience or academic projects (e.g. degree placements or exercises)
- Curiosity and evidenced insight into how changes in society, culture, behaviour, and technology could shape everyday life at home in the next 5-10 years
- Some knowledge in how to use frameworks, models and evidence-based techniques to get to these insights
- Qualitative and quantitative research skills: experienced and confident in gathering and interpreting qualitative insights from customers and subject matter experts, with some quantitative experience
- Excellent communication skills: empathetic, collaborative and able to listen, synthesise diverse perspectives, and communicate clearly, both in writing and speaking, with experience in designing workshops, and producing materials for workshops
- Digital fluency: must be comfortable using Microsoft Office (especially PowerPoint), online whiteboards like Miro or FigJam, and AI tools such as ChatGPT, Copilot, or similar
- Desirable to have: Adobe Creative Cloud skills
