About the role
This is a home-based full-time, permanent Nursing Consultant Institutional (NCI) located within the Health Systems Quality Assurance (HSQA) division.
Responsibilities
- Lead and direct initial and routine inspections and/or complaints investigations of assigned facilities under the direction of the supervisor.
- Develop an overall approach and create an inspection or investigation plan by gathering information on past inspections, complaints, current laws, rules, regulations, clinical standards, and team member/co-worker input for planning and organizing inspection and investigation processes.
- Collect information by interviewing staff, patients, family members or representatives, providers, agency/facility personnel, other interested or affected parties, and review documents, policies, and procedures.
- Observe and evaluate the health care facility or agency, as well as the operation of the facility's health and safety activities during inspections and investigations for compliance with health, safety, and clinical standards of practice.
- Review policies and procedures, health care facility or agency staff or personnel records to evaluate the regulated health care facility’s or agency's compliance.
- Identify findings in state and federal inspections and investigations;compile and prepare necessary documentation of deficiencies or violations in support of proposed corrective or legal action.
- Serve as primary point of contact with facility representatives and Office management.
- Create written reports and give verbal explanations of inspection or investigation findings.
- Participate in legal proceedings related to enforcement actions associated with assigned inspections or investigations.
- Coordinate with other state agencies, federal agencies, public health programs, organizations, local health departments, and community organizations as appropriate to integrate and promote consistency and clarity of information to advance patient safety.
Requirements
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Washington or eligible to obtain licensure within six (6) months of hire.
- Bachelor of Science degree in nursing.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of professional clinical experience in the health care industry, including, but not limited to, facilities regulated by the agency.
- Minimum of two (2) years in a leadership role or supervisory experience such as nurse manager, lead, supervisor, or equivalent position.
