About the role

This role will be responsible for leading the Cloud organizational priorities for AIG within Japan, which includes AIG’s Hybrid Cloud strategy and governance implementation, FinOps Practices, Cloud engineering solution implementations, DevOps enablement as well as Cloud adoption and education

Responsibilities

  • Defines the overall cloud roadmap and strategy for Japan and objectives for AIG Cloud Services and ensures communication of the objectives to the business and project teams
  • Work closely with Global IS organization, Japan CIO Application Development teams and shared services organization to scope a Cloud First strategy that will enable transformation efforts within Japan
  • Apply FinOps culture and practices including driving financial accountability and business value realization through cloud transformation as well as ensuring efficient AWS spend
  • Advocates for efficiencies and value of cloud and Devops adoption with AIG stakeholders in Japan
  • Be a key influencer on technical decisions that affect the business on a long-term basis
  • Align with Global Cloud team on engineering solutions, DevOps capabilities and architectural patterns and look for applicability within Japan
  • Follow a cloud governance framework that includes the centralized architecture, infrastructure, and security aspects and decentralized business applications, data and product aspects
  • Advocates for reusable models/frameworks/ processes to onboard more applications and manage cloud knowledge and learning
  • Oversees the cloud end-to-end DevOps SDLC including configuration mgmt, continuous integration, continuous delivery, release engineering, and smart provisioning within Japan
  • Implements best practices for governance, processes, and standards as defined by Global Cloud Services
  • Partner closely with the Production Support and Service Delivery teams for ensure stable and efficient cloud operations
  • Standardizes project delivery by developing an optimal delivery process that incorporates business requires with cloud best practices
  • Develops and manages metrics and scorecards in line with industry best practices for cloud
  • Collaborates with architecture, application development, engineering, and operation teams to ensure stability, performance and scalability of cloud offerings
  • Drives planning discussions with strategic Cloud vendor partners to ensure optimized usage of cloud within region
  • Provides thought leadership to optimize cloud operational cost
  • Responsible for working with the IT leadership team on cross-team collaboration, next steps, sponsorship, and overall management of the Cloud in Japan
  • Teams up with HR and Learning & Development to establish cloud role profiles and deploy relevant training and certifications to build cloud capabilities with workforce
  • Supports the build of a modern IT organization through agile approaches

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 15 years of experience leading complex Software Engineering and Architecture initiatives, with a minimum of 7 years working in Cloud initiatives
  • Experience working in the Insurance/Financial Services or large scale business operations, where uptime and continuous availability was critical
  • Experience with Cloud strategy, public cloud architecture, cloud networking, security, compliance, migration factory and patterns primarily for AWS and or Azure
  • Experience with enterprise applications and IT services, as well as software development, compliance and security, and IT operations disciplines
  • Experience establishing and running governance models and frameworks
  • Experience applying standards of cloud compliance to application design to achieve reliability
  • Experience partnering with technology Managed Services/Vendors and managing SLAs
  • Knowledge of cloud design patterns, cloud operations and cloud cost models with experience implementing best practices or suggested improvements
  • At least 8 years of experience planning, developing, and managing departmental expense and capital budgets
  • At least 8 years of experience directly managing people, including hiring, developing, motivating, and directing people as they work
