About the role

The Nursing Team Lead supervises, coordinates, and performs patient care delivery on assigned nursing units, adhering to the Standards of Nursing Care for their assigned shift. This role is pivotal in coordinating and planning shift activities to ensure the highest standards of patient care are consistently met. As a clinical resource and role model, the Team Lead is responsible for the observation, assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care. This includes health teaching and counseling of the ill, injured, or infirmed, as well as the promotion of wellness, maintenance of health, and prevention of illness among others. The Team Lead is a registered professional nurse validated in their specialized field, responsible for providing and supervising both direct and indirect total care to various age groups as identified. Utilizing the nursing process of assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating, this role achieves the goals of the department and enhances the delivery of patient care in collaboration with department supervisors, clinical specialists, or educators. Moreover, this position includes the administration of medication and treatments as prescribed or authorized by duly licensed practitioners, in accordance with the Division of Nursing standards and applicable regulations. The supervision and teaching of other personnel in the theory and performance of nursing acts are integral components of this role. The Team Lead also participates in conducting performance appraisals for personnel on their shift, acts as a leadership figure through conflict resolution and service recovery with patients, families, physicians, and staff, and proactively removes barriers to effectively implement the organization's strategic plan to achieve its vision. Adherence to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies, and accrediting bodies is mandatory, ensuring excellence in patient care delivery across the board.
