About the role
Delta Vacations, Staff Accountant
Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze forecasts and financial statements to ensure accuracy and integrity
- Perform variance analysis and reconciliations to ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls procedures
- Assist with departmental accounting support and budget reconciliation
- Assist in the preparation and reporting of the assigned portions of the financial statements, ensuring timeliness and accuracy
- Perform analysis and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts ensuring integrity of the financial statements
- Review and analyze financial transactions for monthly financial close process
- Collaborate with departments and management on budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis to achieve profitability initiatives
- Prepare and review supporting schedules as required to execute invoice payables and employee reimbursements
- Evaluate internal control policies and procedures to ensure GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley compliance and make recommendations to improve efficiency and/or integrity and accuracy of financial statements
- Assist Delta Corporate Tax by providing information for regulatory reporting requirements
- Comply with all corporate and departmental policies/procedures and applicable governmental regulations
Requirements
- Knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Strong mathematical proficiency required
- Strong PC skills including MS Word and Excel required
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and make recommendations in a timely and accurate manner
- Ability to prioritize and successfully manage multiple projects/deadlines simultaneously
- Must be able to effectively and professionally communicate with management and staff as well as demonstrate sound judgment/reasoning skills
- Must have strong organizational and analytical skills
