About the role
Responsible for performing radiographic imaging procedures to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Positions, moves, and assists patients to ensure accurate imaging results. This role performs clerical duties and provides basic patient care within the scope of practice and departmental standards. In addition, this position adheres to compliance plans and regulations of local, state, and federal agencies.

Performs radiographic imaging procedures, ensuring high-quality images that meet department standards. Positions patients and equipment, selecting technical factors to produce radiographic images safely and in a timely manner. Performs imaging with correct patient demographic and examination information. Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems. Assists patients during procedures, ensuring their comfort, safety, and privacy, in compliance with regulatory guidelines. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, providers, team members, and others of diverse backgrounds Moves, positions, and manipulates radiographic equipment to complete requested procedures safely. Performs direct patient care duties within the technologists scope of practice, including monitoring patient condition, transporting patient, and using proper infection control techniques. Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks. Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low.

Requirements
- Works independently, usually without direct supervision.
- May be asked to direct workflow of others.
- May be asked to train and supervise new employees.
- One year experience preferably in radiology or a new graduate of accredited radiologic technology program.
- Experience required before working unattended or high volume shifts without supervision.
- Following orientation of one month, technologist should be able to work independently with supervisor or other workers available for assistance.
- Within three months technologist should be able to work independent shift and participate in standby call.
- Must be able to make independent judgments as needed to adequately coordinate workflow and staffing.
- Very little of the work is repetitive in nature.
- Mature judgment is needed to resolve immediate or urgent problems and deal with multiple priorities.
- Must be able to apply policy and procedures in a reasonable fashion, as well as make decisions where procedures are not available.
- Interpretation and development of policy is necessary.
- Generally works independently.
- Works under the direction of the chief technologist, lead technologist and imaging managers.
- Indirectly supervises students.
- Processes and accesses confidential information concerning patients and employees.
- Maintains and respects confidentiality according to the Administrative policy.
- Able to fully use all Radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment, including C-arm and portable units.
- Utilizes Cerner HIS and PACS system.
- Basic PC knowledge required.
- Must be able to use and trouble shoot all equipment within department.
- Patient care and communication skills to deal with patients from infant through geriatric age groups.
- Must be able to use computer system for data entry and retrieval.
- Basic computer skills are needed for PACS, HIS/RIS and data entry.
