Schedule: Full-time Shift: Days 11am-11:30pm Location: AdventHealth Orlando, 601 E Rollins St, Orlando, FL 32803 The community you'll be caring for: Located on a lush tropical campus, our flagship hospital, 1,368-bed AdventHealth Orlando serves as the major tertiary facility for much of the Southeast, the Caribbean and South America AdventHealth Orlando houses one of the largest Emergency Departments and largest cardiac catheterization labs in the country We are already one of the busiest hospitals in the nation, providing service excellence to more than 32,000 inpatients and 125,000 outpatients each year Unit Highlights: As one of the premier childrens health systems in the nation, AdventHealth for Children sets the standard for innovation, quality and comprehensive care. Our technologically advanced, flagship facility is designed by Walt Disney Imagineers to be child-friendly. We have assembled a world-class team of doctors, specialists, nurses and health care professionals that utilizes some of the most advanced technologies, therapies and treatments available to care for our patients. This includes 140 pediatric specialists practicing 35 subspecialties and 800 Pediatric specialty trained staff. For a second time, the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) has granted AdventHealth for Children Magnet recognition, which establishes the hospital as a national leader in nursing and patient care. Only seven-percent of the nations hospitals have received this recognition. The role you'll contribute: Provides direct patient care and support within the nursing career pathway and profession. Collaborates with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to inform and monitor patient treatment plans. Manages and updates patient records and documentation. The value you'll bring to the team: Rinse, prime and position all appropriate equipment, attach all required tubing, prepare dialysate, calibrate and check alarms, set monitors and perform a system check as required. Provide the highest level of critical acute nursing care to ensure patient safety, comfort, and well being Perform patient assessment prior to treatment and proceed with treatment based on such assessments and physicians orders. Obtain blood samples and other specimens as indicated by patients condition or as ordered. Administer appropriate medications, blood and blood products ordered by the physician and/or as stated in polices. Assess, evaluate and provide care for patients related to blood pressure and weight changes or other physical conditions, access patency, lab values, dialysate composition, blood and fluid flows. Complete nursing notes after every dialysis treatment. Notify the physician when appropriate. Communicate with patients primary nurse. Administer treatment as indicated, including medications, use of oxygen and other therapeutic measures. Monitor blood pressure every 30 minutes or less. Clean and dress access sites and other wounds in close proximity to the access site that may potentially contaminate the access using appropriate aseptic techniques. Initiate and perform appropriate emergency procedures. Participates in patient and family teaching as needed regarding dialysis treatment and End stage renal dietary recommendations. Clean and sanitize equipment; dispose of disposable supplies as practiced by hospital protocols. Maintain a safe environment for patient and staff by following infection control procedures. Give the primary nurse a full report at completion of dialysis. Have knowledge about continuous cycled peritoneal dialysis and peritoneal dialysis solutions Have Knowledge about disequilibrium syndrome, air emboli, hemolysis and neuropathy. Minimum qualifications : Associates degree or Diploma in Nursing 1 year of RN experience required Specific experience as delineated by the unit of employment Current valid State of Florida or multistate license as a Registered Nurse Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Advanced Life Support Certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP) per specialty/unit requirements EKG competency Preferred qualifications: Bachelors degree of Nursing (BSN) or Masters degree in Nursing (MSN) Professional Certification, Certified Dialysis Nurse (CDN) and/or ACLS Pediatric experience Dialysis experience
