Licensed Practical Nurse 4 - WCC

Licensed Practical Nurse 4 (LPN4) Full-Time, Permanent Washington Corrections Center (WCC) Shelton, WA Schedule: Monday - Thursday 4:00 AM - 12:30 PM

• Practice nursing safely and effectively in the correctional setting
• Monitor and collect specific data about the health status of individuals
• Assist the Registered Nurse in developing nursing diagnoses and outcomes
• Contribute to the development of the plan of nursing care
• Carry out the plan of care by performing common therapeutic nursing interventions
• Supervise and assign tasks to subordinate staff
• Teach, instruct, monitor, supervise, and evaluate the implementation of tasks
• Provide effective communication and documentation
• Protect the confidentiality of health records
• Maintain accurate, legible, and complete records of patient care
• Coordinate health care received by patients
• Complete unusual incident reports
• Respond to verbal and written requests from offenders and institution staff
• Administer medication
• Participate in medication lines and individual medication administration
• Process medication orders
• Provide patient education regarding medications
• Prepare release medications in anticipation of offender transfer or release
• Participate in treatments and dressing changes
• Monitor vital signs
• Assist with minor surgical procedures
• Evaluate and carry out licensed practitioners' written, verbal, and telephone orders
• Provide emergency medical care, including CPR

• Two years experience working as a Licensed Practical Nurse
• Initial and continuous unencumbered licensure in the State of Washington as a Licensed Practical Nurse
• Training by the American Heart Association in Healthcare Provider CPR
• Proficient using computer-based programs to schedule, monitor, and track patient information
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
• Ability to work in a potentially hazardous setting
