Educational Interpreter - Bridgeport, Connecticut

Located in Bridgeport, CT, this full-time opportunity offers a 32.5-hour workweek as an ASL Language Facilitator for the 25/26 school year in an elementary school setting. This contract role involves providing direct support to a student on a 1:1 basis, focusing on tutoring, comprehension support, and ASL vocabulary development.

Key Responsibilities:

Work closely with an elementary student to facilitate understanding of academic material through American Sign Language (ASL) Provide 1:1 tutoring and develop strategies to enhance the student’s ASL vocabulary and communication skills Support the student’s comprehension of classroom content using ASL Collaborate with educational staff to create an inclusive learning environment

Qualifications:

Fluency in American Sign Language is essential Experience working in a school setting is highly preferred Certification such as RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) and/or a strong EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score are advantageous but not mandatory Ability to work effectively in a one-on-one educational role with elementary students
