About the role
In addition to the responsibilities listed below, this role is also responsible for guiding collaboration and communication with other departments within the hospital and clinics (e.g., Employee Wellness, Employee Assistance Program) to support institutional staff; providing in-depth spiritual counseling to staff in medical specialty departments (e.g., Emergency Room, Behavioral Health); seeking out and completing trainings specific to institution needs; identifying disasters and providing response services and emergency management, including urgent, rapid responses during crisis situations (e.g., Team Lavender); collaborating with internal and external entities to plan, provide, and facilitate organizational well-being activities (e.g., tea for the soul, healing music); and organizing and participating in hospital-based committees (e.g., ethics)
Responsibilities
- Provides patient, loved ones, and staff counseling services by: applying diverse spiritual care assessment models to evaluate spiritual needs, issues, and concerns and recommend appropriate spiritual counseling services and/or care interventions
- Provides spiritual care by: role modeling cultural sensitivity when interacting with patients, their families and loved ones, and team members
