Underwriter, AIG Risk Management

• Underwrites and services an existing renewal book
• Assists in the training and development of Associate Underwriters and Underwriting Analysts
• Communicates risk appetite and AIGRM Value Proposition to brokers
• Reviews new distribution opportunities, identifies new business relationships, manages pipeline of opportunities and collaborates with region to ensure new opportunities are explored and pursued
• Reviews the more difficult accounts and ensures that they are issued accurately and in a timely fashion
• Generates new business and provides underwriting guidance and appropriate rates for alternate plans at time of renewal
• Makes independent sales calls to market and cross-market products
• Refers declined business to other AIG divisions, as appropriate
• Identifies cross-selling opportunities
• Travels to broker/client meetings to serve as the AIGRM product expert and to identify cross-selling opportunities
• Performs special requests for clients, which may include task such as business plan changes, or analyzing new agreements

• 1+ years of Commercial Insurance Company, Agency or Brokerage experience
• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university
• Proven ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships
• Working knowledge of US Casualty lines of business (Workers’ Compensation, Auto Liability, and General Liability) including product features, forms, regulatory environments and risks etc.
• Demonstrated sales, marketing, and relationship building experience
• Very strong verbal and written communication skills
• Highly motivated and results-oriented
• Ability to work in dynamic, rapidly changing environment, adapting to changing requirements and collaborating with a wide range of colleagues to quickly deliver solutions
• Willingness to be flexible, learn on the job, and maintain a can-do attitude
• Comfort with analytical tools and technology
