About the role

Resident Care Manager, RN3, On-Call, Walla Walla Veterans Home

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate assignments of staff to residents and provide direction and information via accurate communication of current resident status and care needs to staff.
  • Participate in nursing management team activities that include development, review, revision, and implementation of department, facility and nursing policies and procedures, infection control, improving nursing organizational performance, investigations, incident follow-up, and any function that contributes to quality care of residents.
  • Ensure clear, consistent documentation of resident care.
  • Ensure adherence and application of agency and facility policy and procedure and assist in policy and procedure development and identification of related training requirements.
  • Promote resident autonomy and control over everyday matters such as when to get up, food choices, and other significant activities.
  • Maintain standards and character within areas of supervision and ensure the physical integrity of the areas through regular, ongoing observations, timely maintenance requests, and resident and staff education and monitoring.
  • Attend care conferences and provide input.
  • Oversee reporting of incidents and ensure prompt, thorough initial investigation of incidents in compliance with regulations.
  • Supervise RNs, LPNs, NACs and/or other staff including interviewing and recommending selection of applicants, training employees, acting upon leave requests, conducting annual performance evaluations, and recommending disciplinary action.
  • Monitor subordinate staff's attendance and meet with them regularly.

Requirements

  • Valid Washington state registered nurse license or unencumbered registered nurse multistate license.
  • Two (2) years of experience as a registered nurse.
  • Must have strong clinical skills and long-term care knowledge, including all regulatory requirements.
  • Be able to demonstrate the ability to coordinate, delegate, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Be proficient in the English language and be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Be able to articulate accurate methods of practices of nursing and restorative care; personal hygiene and sanitation methods, recordkeeping, report preparation, infection control procedures, and resident rights.
