About the role
The Missing and Exploited Youth Human Trafficking Screening Specialist (SHPC2) is a member of the Missing & Exploited Youth (MEY) team. In this role, you'll be responsible for following statewide policy and procedures related to screening and assessment of Human Trafficking which includes Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC).
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and consult with child welfare staff on cases referred for screening for commercial exploitation
- Conduct validated tool screenings and assist with identifying services on cases when reports of commercial sexual abuse of a minor are received by intake and not assigned for Child Protective Services (CPS) response
- Review existing case records to inform results of the screening tool
- Ensure that the screening process is initiated and completed within recommended timeframes
- Engage with collateral contacts, youth, and custodial guardians as part of the assessment and/or service recommendation process as needed
- Administer and interpret the validated screening tool, maintaining fidelity to the model
- Assist with reporting to Law Enforcement as required by law and policy on cases of high risk or confirmed exploitation
- Maintain collaborative communication with Law Enforcement as needed on open cases involving trafficking
- Support the assigned primary social worker after the screening is completed with advanced level subject matter knowledge and related guidance for ongoing prevention and service referrals that meet the complex trauma needs of exploited youth
- Participate in child welfare led staffing meetings regarding youth who have been identified as being high risk or confirmed as exploited
- Input accurate screening information into the designated data management system following policy and procedures, and within the required timeframe
- Maintain organized documentation and records, report outcomes to the supervisor on a timely and routine basis
- Communicate screening results with assigned staff and make recommendations to assist with improved outcomes
Requirements
- Equivalent education and experience totaling seven (7) years of professional experience in planning, administering, developing, or delivering social, financial, health, or chemical dependency treatment services programs
- One (1) year of experience as a Social and Health Program Consultant 1
- A bachelor's degree in social work, a health or social science, public administration or related field, AND three (3) years of professional experience in planning, administering, developing, or delivering social, financial, health, or chemical dependency treatment services programs
- A master's degree or higher in social work, a health or social science, public administration or a related field, AND two (2) years of professional experience in planning, administering, developing, or delivering social, financial, health or chemical dependency treatment services programs
