Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Medical Surgical Full Time Days

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for the provision of nursing care for a patient or an assigned group of patients under the supervision/direction of the Registered Nurse.

• The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for the provision of nursing care for a patient or an assigned group of patients under the supervision/direction of the Registered Nurse.
• The LPN assists with implementation and administration of the nursing process relative to the medical and nursing plan of care.
• The LPN uses the nursing skills of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in their patient care delivery.
• Primary function is the delivery of competent, compassionate, and cost-effective nursing care.
• This performance is in compliance with established policies, procedures and protocols under the supervision of the Registered Nurse.
• The LPN demonstrates collaborative and professional communication skills and a commitment to professional accountability and growth.
• The LPN strives to advance from novice to expert and become an evidence-based scholar in order to provide optimal patient care and advocate on behalf of his/her patients.
• The LPN serves as a role model for the mission, vision, and values of Shawnee Mission Health.
• He is accountable for working within the parameters of the Kansas Nurse Practice Act, all regulatory standards and established policies, protocols, and procedures.

• NursingState or Compact Licensure as a Practical Nurse
• BCLS obtained through the American Heart Association
• Must have documented completion of IV Therapy Certification from a program approved by the state of Kansas Board of Nursing
