About the role
The Digital Content Specialist plays a critical role in developing, and optimizing high-quality digital content that supports Ascension’s mission and growth goals. This position bridges content creation and earned channel distribution, ensuring that patient-facing web content, campaigns, and brand stories are consistent, compelling, and measurable across platforms.
Responsibilities
- Work with Content Managers to create, edit, and publish content for web pages, microsites, blogs, and campaign landing pages using the CMS.
- Apply brand voice, editorial guidelines, and compliance standards across all content.
- Manage content workflows, approvals, and translation processes as needed.
- Ensure accessibility, SEO optimization, and metadata governance for all digital content.
- Collaborate with the Director of Earned Channels to adapt and extend content into Web, social, and thought leadership channels.
- Monitor digital reputation channels (e.g., Google Business Profiles, review platforms) to support proactive storytelling and consumer trust.
- Assist in aligning web content with SEO, media coverage, and patient engagement campaigns.
- Adopt approved structured content standards (taxonomy, tagging, schema, metadata).
- Ensure compliance with 504 accessibility, HIPAA, and regulatory requirements.
- Partner with analytics teams to track and report on content performance, earned media impact, and patient engagement.
- Work cross-functionally with Product, Marketing, SEO, Social Media, and Ministry Marketing teams.
- Support the Director of Content Development in advancing content governance frameworks, editorial calendars, and operational models.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement through testing, analytics, and feedback loops.
Requirements
- Education: High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Bachelor's degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
- Additional Preferences: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Digital Media, or related field.
- Experience: 2–4 years of experience in digital content creation, web publishing, or content marketing.
- Experience with CMS platforms (Sitecore, Adobe, or similar); understanding of component-based authoring preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to work effectively across cross-functional teams
- Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., Smartsheet, Jira, Asana, MS Project)
- Experience with digital, IT, or healthcare-related projects is a plus
- Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of SEO, accessibility (WCAG), and analytics tools (GA4, Looker).
- Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working in Social Media tools natively, Sprinkr experience is nice to have.
- Collaborative mindset with experience working across functions and reporting lines.
- Familiarity with healthcare or regulated industries a plus.
- Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or SAFe methodologies
- Ability to influence stakeholders and drive decisions
- Experience managing vendor relationships and contracts
- Comfort working in matrixed or enterprise environments
