Natural Heritage Program Botanist, Natural Resources Scientist 3 (NRSci3)
Responsibilities
- Identify, plan, and implement numerous rare plant monitoring and research projects
- Manage scientific programs addressing rare plant conservation efforts
- Conduct field inventory, monitoring, and research
- Compile data from secondary sources
- Establish conservation priorities
- Coordinate statewide efforts with national and international projects
- Analyze existing and new information on native plant species
- Represent the DNR and the Natural Heritage Program in conservation planning efforts
- Recommend sites for conservation action
- Give presentations on conservation of rare plant species
- Train/educate personnel in Natural Heritage methodology
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with major study in botany, plant ecology or field of study dealing with the ecology or biology of native plant species
- Four years of professional experience in botany, plant ecology or field of study dealing with the ecology or biology of native plant species
