About the role
An opportunity is available for a Special Education Teacher to provide dedicated support within a K-12 educational setting. This full-time role focuses on managing an elementary or middle school caseload, delivering specialized instruction tailored to students' unique learning needs. The position is a contract assignment for the current school year (CSY) and is based in Henrico, VA.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in compliance with special education laws and guidelines.
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with disabilities in either elementary or middle school grades.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, and families to ensure a cohesive and effective learning environment.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed to meet learning objectives.
- Maintain detailed records and documentation related to student performance and program outcomes.
Requirements
- Certification in Special Education.
- Experience working with K-12 students, preferably within elementary or middle school settings.
- Strong understanding of applicable state and federal special education regulations.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and families.
- Ability to manage a full-time caseload and adapt to the diverse needs of students.
