CRIMINAL JUSTICE TRAINER 4 - Patrol Tactics

The Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission is seeking a subject matter expert in Patrol Tactics and De-escalation strategies

• Serves as SME and lead instructor for criminal justice courses
• Lead and provide instructional direction to assistant and contract instructors
• Liaise with Program Manager, internal and external subject matter experts
• Oversee course logistics
• Model behaviors to be emulated by officers
• Collect and review course evaluations
• Perform program specific auditing
• Ensure class and test materials are ready for use
• Grade practical exercises and report accurate results
• Ensure Applied Skills course records are correctly maintained
• Follow OFM Rules, agency policy/procedures/guidelines/forms, and ASTD standard operating procedures

• At least ten (10) years of recent experience as a certified peace officer
• No sustained use of force complaints in the past three (3) years
• Understanding of AG Model Use of Force Policy
• Understanding of relevant WAC and RCW related to violence de-escalation
• Understanding of adult teaching and learning methods
• Understanding of 21st Century Policing principles
• Demonstrated experience with effective communication skills
• Quality problem-solving skills, including analysis and strategy
• Strong work ethic, self-directed, and able to work in a team-teaching environment
• Ability to exhibit agency values in all interactions and serve as a role model
• Ability to support the agency's diversity, equity, and inclusion goals
