About the role

The Account Consultant is responsible for supporting strategic sales and account associates in the growth and retention of existing accounts and being directly responsible for managing a small book of business.

Responsibilities

  • Builds external relationships with existing accounts, members, and brokers
  • Develops and fosters comprehensive understanding of client needs and priorities
  • Manages high profile sales, claims, and benefit issues
  • Meets with clients formally and informally to educate, promote, persuade, and drive opportunities for additional growth and product sales
  • Achieves retention and growth targets on a small book of business
  • Develops business plans to address broker/client needs
  • Understands and maintains knowledge of industry at the local, state, and federal level
  • Responds to request for proposal (“RFP”) in coordination with sales support and/or independently
  • Identifies competitive situations within assigned accounts or group market, analyzes information, and develops proposals and execution plans to management

Requirements

  • Requires a BA/BS and a minimum 4 years of related experience
  • Sales license required where necessary or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
