• Perform Fish Culture
• Monitor fish behavior, health, and egg production
• Administer therapeutics, calculate and administer drugs as prescribed
• Disinfect and count eggs, pick egg loss by hand or using equipment, and incubate eggs for facility programs or shipments
• Identify, sort, and sample species for spawning and adult distribution
• Clean ponds and raceways, troughs, and incubator systems to maintain fish health
• Identify marked adults, collect tags/marks for bio sampling, and collect fish tissue and fluid samples
• Load fish for transport using a variety of methods
• Monitor water quality parameters using dissolved oxygen meters and chemicals
• Record Keeping and Reporting
• Operation and Maintenance of Facility and Equipment

• One (1) year of experience as a Fish Hatchery Specialist 1
• Successful completion of agency supervised training program
• An Associate’s degree in fisheries technology or closely allied field
• One (1) year of experience performing fish culture duties in a hatchery
• Two (2) years of education towards a Bachelor’s degree in fisheries or closely allied field
• One (1) year of experience performing fish culture duties in a hatchery
• Successful completion of a fish culture program from a vocational school
• One (1) year of experience performing fish culture duties in a hatchery
• Four (4) years of experience performing a variety of fish culture duties in a hatchery
