About the role

The Fraud Investigator Supervisor will develop and implement the division's fraud mitigation strategy, provide consultation regarding effective fraud identification and prevention strategies, and conduct assessments of potential fraud risks.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a highly trained workforce of subject matter experts
  • Implement and oversee the division's fraud mitigation strategy
  • Provide consultation regarding effective fraud identification and prevention strategies
  • Conduct assessments of potential fraud risks
  • Develop policies and procedures consistent with federal and state requirements
  • Review processes to determine if they provide reasonable assurance around fraud detection
  • Develop controls and administrative systems pertaining to investigative activities
  • Review and regularly update risk indicators
  • Coordinate with the agency Enterprise Risk Officer and Fraud and Risk Manager
  • Maintain and report on TAA risk registers and fraud risk registers
  • Evaluate fraud detection process for compliance and effectiveness
  • Investigate complex cases of identity theft, tax fraud, tips from the public or other states, and death records
  • Prepare detailed reports outlining investigation findings
  • Ensure all investigative activities are conducted in compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Review fraud reports to determine if fraud may be present through the use of data and trends
  • Recommend system changes that would benefit the department in detecting fraud
  • Regularly review the UCP KFI scores to determine if changes are needed to the scores currently assigned to each component

Requirements

  • Leadership experience
  • Investigative skills
  • Fraud prevention and risk mitigation experience
  • Knowledge of performance management and supervision
  • Knowledge of investigative techniques and principles
  • Ability to analyze complex data and identify patterns indicative of fraudulent behavior
  • Ability to evaluate evidence critically and draw logical conclusions
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge of relevant technologies and tools used in investigations
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and reports
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and integrity in all interactions
  • Ability to demonstrate integrity and ethical conduct
  • Knowledge of internal controls and procedures
