Vice President, Counsel & Political Risk Underwriter

Sovereign Risk Insurance Ltd. (“Sovereign”) is a subsidiary of Chubb Bermuda Insurance Ltd. and provides underwriting services for all aspects of political risk insurance. Sovereign invites applications for the position of Vice President, Counsel & Political Risk Underwriter. This position reports directly to the Division President. The duties of this position are as follows: Assisting Sovereign underwriters on all legal aspects of transactional underwriting, including negotiating and reviewing policy wordings, project documentation, legal opinions, loan agreements and bilateral investment protection treaties. Evaluating and helping negotiate political risk insurance transactions from banks, government agencies, trading companies and private equity investors. Underwriting Political risk and sovereign credit insurance and managing client relationship responsibilities.

• Assisting Sovereign underwriters on all legal aspects of transactional underwriting
• Evaluating and helping negotiate political risk insurance transactions
• Underwriting Political risk and sovereign credit insurance
• Managing client relationship responsibilities

• A law degree (J.D.) from a recognised U.S., Canadian or U.K. law school and admission to the bar in at least one jurisdiction
• At least ten years legal experience advising on banking or finance law
• At least five years political risk and sovereign credit insurance underwriting experience
• Experience in areas relating to international investment law and international arbitration proceedings
• Familiarity with the process of political and economic risk analysis in emerging markets

• Assisting Sovereign underwriters on all legal aspects of transactional underwriting
• Evaluating and helping negotiate political risk insurance transactions
• Underwriting Political risk and sovereign credit insurance
• Managing client relationship responsibilities
