About the role
A rewarding contract opportunity is available for a Special Education Teacher specializing in elementary autism support. This position involves working within an elementary school environment, providing dedicated services to students with special needs. The role is based in Warren, MI and is set as a school-year contract with start dates and professional development scheduled for late August.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized instruction and support to a current caseload of five students with autism, with a maximum caseload of seven.
- Collaborate with two experienced paraprofessionals who are already familiar with the students and classroom routines.
- Adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs in alignment with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Participate in professional development sessions on August 20th and 21st to prepare for the school year starting August 25th.
- Maintain communication with administration and therapy staff to ensure a cohesive approach to student development.
Requirements
- Possession of any valid Michigan Special Education teaching license.
- Experience or strong interest in working with elementary-aged children with autism.
- Familiarity with special education laws and best practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively with paraprofessionals and school staff.
- Commitment to supporting the academic and social growth of students with special needs.
