Responsibilities
- Performs journey-level technical cartographic assignments for DAHP’s geographic or information systems (GIS) and services
- Conducts spatial analysis which leverage Esri Model Builder, python, and various other tools
- Develops computer instruction to meet requirements of specific mapping projects
- Maintains GIS mapping templates
- Conducts research into new cartographic technology
- Selects and orders source maps and documents and other material
- Maintains map collections, data dictionaries, libraries, and inventories
- Assigns, instructs, and checks work of other Unit staff
- Leads, provides guidance, and assistance to lower-level GIS/IT Unit staff in cartographic work
- Assists lower-level GIS professionals prioritize workloads, perform periodic spot checks, and trains users on the use and capabilities of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in cartography, geography, photogrammetry, geographic information systems, computer sciences, remote sensing, land survey, civil engineering, natural resources, or closely related field
- One year of professional cartographic or geographic information systems production experience
