Operating Room Assistant

The Operating Room Assistant (ORA) is responsible for assisting with patient positioning and prepping under the guidance of a licensed surgical team member. S/he is accountable for room turn over responsibilities including, but not limited to, trash removal, equipment cleaning, linen removal, sweeping and mopping and assisting in bed preparation for the next surgical patient. ORAs are responsible for delivering specimen to lab, obtaining blood for transfusion, securing supplies and equipment from other departments within the facility. The ORA transports patients to the perioperative area as requested by the unit coordinator in accordance with the surgery schedule.

• Assisting with patient positioning and prepping under the guidance of a licensed surgical team member.
• Room turn over responsibilities including, but not limited to, trash removal, equipment cleaning, linen removal, sweeping and mopping and assisting in bed preparation for the next surgical patient.
• Delivering specimen to lab, obtaining blood for transfusion, securing supplies and equipment from other departments within the facility.
• Transporting patients to the perioperative area as requested by the unit coordinator in accordance with the surgery schedule.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• BCLS obtained through the American Heart Association
• Previous OR assist experience
