Sign Language Interpreter

An opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to provide dedicated support to an elementary student in an educational setting in Bridgeport, CT. This full-time, contract position offers 32.5 hours per week during the school year (25/26 calendar), focusing on individualized instruction and communication facilitation.

• Provide one-on-one support to an elementary student, enhancing comprehension of classroom material.
• Assist with American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation and facilitate effective communication between the student and educators.
• Tutor the student to reinforce learning objectives and help build their ASL vocabulary.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure consistent support aligned with the student's educational needs.
• Adapt instructional strategies to meet the student's evolving requirements.

• Fluency in American Sign Language
• Previous experience working in a school setting
• Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) certification and/or a high Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score
