Senior Staff Systems Engineer, Site Reliability Engineering

Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) combines software and systems engineering to build and run large-scale, massively distributed, fault-tolerant systems

• Lead the design and implementation of complex AI-powered systems
• Lead and influence cross-organisational collaborations
• Provide guidance to other team members on managing availability and performance
• Mentor and train other team members on design techniques and coding standards
• Manage individual projects priorities, deadlines, and deliverables

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• 8 years of experience with programming in one or more programming languages
• 4 years of experience leading projects
• 3 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure or distributed systems

• Reliability, uptime appropriate to customer's needs and a fast rate of improvement
• Optimizing existing systems, building infrastructure and eliminating work through automation
• Complex challenges of scale unique to Google Cloud
• Coding, algorithms, complexity analysis and large-scale system design
• Intellectual curiosity, problem solving and openness
• Collaboration, thinking big and taking risks in a blame-free environment
• Support and mentorship needed to learn and grow
