About the role

The Department of Social and Health Services is seeking a Behavioral Health Specialist 3 to join Western State Hospital's Behavior Management Team

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with treatment units caring for patients with high acuity and challenging behaviors
  • Provide consultation, develop strategies to reduce aggression, and deliver direct support to patients and staff
  • Model interventions, guide de-escalation practices, and offer therapeutic activities to help patients build coping strategies and daily living skills

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in sociology, psychology, or other social science
  • Two years of professional counseling or casework experience
  • One year as a Behavioral Health Specialist 2
  • Equivalent education or relevant experience
