Join us as we work to create a thriving ecosystem that delivers accessible, high-quality, and sustainable healthcare for all. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our athenaCollector team.

Responsibilities

  • Design, development, and delivery of Java-based backend services integrated with AI-powered components leveraging GenAI technologies
  • Build and maintain scalable Java applications using Spring Boot, REST APIs, relational and NoSQL databases
  • Collaborate with AI engineers to incorporate vector databases and AI retrieval pipelines into enterprise software
  • Develop, optimize, and deploy LLM prompt engineering solutions, embedding models, and AI-enhanced workflows
  • Estimate development efforts considering AI model inference latency, API rate limits, and backend service performance requirements
  • Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and code reviews to ensure timely delivery of AI-enabled Java features with high quality and adherence to coding standards
  • Adhere to AI governance, ethical AI practices, security compliance (HIPAA, GDPR, SOC2), and maintain AI model evaluation and benchmarking (BLEU, ROUGE, cosine similarity)

Requirements

  • 4 years of software engineering experience with significant product development expertise
  • Hands on experience in developing product with AI/GenAI integration
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or closely related fields
  • Proficient in Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, relational SQL and NoSQL databases, and cloud platforms (AWS or Azure)
  • Strong experience with AI frameworks/APIs including OpenAI GPT, Hugging Face Transformers, LangChain, LlamaIndex
  • Familiarity with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) concepts, LLM prompt engineering, embeddings, and vector similarity search using Pinecone, FAISS, or ChromaDB
  • Solid understanding of Unix/Linux environments, big data pipelines, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices in Agile settings
  • Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and optimize AI model APIs, AI workflows, and Java backend services with attention to scalability, latency, and security
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a collaborative approach working with cross-disciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment
