About the role

We are looking for a Principal Data Scientist to join our team. As a Principal Data Scientist in the Microsoft Dynamics Customer Service Application team, you will work with business and AI leaders as well as internal business users and partners to understand, explore and develop AI/ML solutions to solve their business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Set Technical Direction: Define and drive the vision for advanced analytics, machine learning, and generative AI, ensuring alignment with product and business strategy.
  • Deliver Scalable AI Systems: Lead the design, development, and deployment of large-scale ML/AI solutions (including LLM-based and traditional approaches) with measurable impact.
  • Cross-Org Influence: Partner with engineering, product, and research teams to identify high-value opportunities, shape roadmaps, and establish AI/ML best practices across the organization.
  • Mentorship & Leadership: Guide and develop a team of data scientists and engineers, fostering innovation and technical excellence.
  • Experimentation & Evaluation: Establish frameworks for model evaluation, experimentation, and continuous improvement, ensuring reliability and responsible AI principles.
  • Thought Leadership: Represent the team’s AI strategy, staying ahead of industry trends in LLMs, generative AI, and advanced analytics.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 5+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
  • OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 7+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 10+ years data science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
  • OR equivalent experience.
