About the role

A Clinical Pharmacist position is available for a 3-month contract to support a specialty infusion pharmacy location in Trussville, AL. This opportunity requires a pharmacist licensed in both Alabama and Tennessee to cover a leave of absence. The role involves part-time hours, approximately 24-35 hours per week, working Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The site utilizes CareTend (CPR+ upgrade) software. This pharmacy focuses on specialty medication therapies, providing compassionate patient care and collaborating closely with healthcare providers to optimize clinical outcomes. The Clinical Pharmacist ensures safe pharmacy operations through prescription review, patient medication counseling, and therapeutic monitoring. Oversight of pharmacy technician activities and interdepartmental collaboration are key aspects of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Review and verify prescriptions ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations
  • Conduct patient medication counseling and assess therapy appropriateness
  • Monitor and manage drug therapies, intervening as necessary to optimize care
  • Oversight of pharmacy technician performance and documentation
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams including Reimbursement, Nursing, and Clinical Services
  • Comply with regulatory and accreditation standards, including HIPAA, FDA, DEA, and state pharmacy boards
  • Provide training to pharmacy interns and contribute to staff education
  • Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives

Requirements

  • Doctorate or Bachelor of Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited school
  • Current unrestricted pharmacist licenses in AL and TN (multi-state licensure required)
  • Minimum three years' experience in specialty, infusion, retail, community, or hospital pharmacy preferred
  • Proficiency with CareTend software preferred
  • Strong knowledge of specialty therapies and patient support processes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
