About the role
This role is for a Broadcast Support Engineer, initially focusing on the Distribution area (OTT, DTH, VOD). As part of the onsite support shift team, you will be looking after day-to-day systems and projects - from maintaining encoders & multiplexers, to reactive video & audio related technical issues.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support and timely fault analysis on the Broadcast Headend, VOD and Streaming platforms
- Work a regular shift pattern in one of two engineering teams formed of Associate Engineers, Engineers & Senior Engineers
- Provide reactive, logical, and methodical fault finding to a broad variety of faults found across a large platform
- Create & update tickets for every task, working these through to resolution
- Field calls, deal with routine maintenance and proactive checks, and attend major incident reviews
Requirements
- A degree in Broadcast Engineering/Media Technologies/or equivalent
- Solid experience as a Broadcast Engineer, ideally in the MCR, Playout, OTT & DTH domain
- A demonstrable understanding of baseband and IP broadcast video, audio and/or compression standards
- Solid understanding of MPEG/DVB standards
- A detailed understanding of the broadcast chain, specifically around the distribution area
- Excellent troubleshooting skills
- Ability to resolve complex problems or problems where precedent may not exist in a live broadcast environment
- A highly effective, positive, and influential communication style
- A willingness to work a shift pattern, including weekend and evening working
