Underwriting Team Leader, Life Sciences

Chubb is currently seeking a highly motivated and outgoing business professional to join our Life Science team. The position is a Life Science P&C Underwriting Team Lead for our New York Region. Key objectives include managing a team, understanding and managing risks, contributing proportionately to production goals, meeting or exceeding business unit service standards, building or improving trading partner relationships, and demonstrating sound underwriting discipline.

• Achieve Life Science property and casualty business plan
• Manage a team of underwriters
• Establish and cultivate business relationships with brokers and clients
• Evaluate, select, underwrite, price, quote and maintain new and renewal business
• Work with the team of underwriters to develop and implement marketing plans
• Retain accounts through active participation in Chubb Stewardship and Enterprise Account process
• Participate in product line projects as required
• Forecast monthly production and annual plan and pipeline to manager
• Oversee proper policy issuance and other account agreements execution

• 4 year College degree in insurance, business or related fields or equivalent experience
• 3-5 years commercial Life Science property and casualty experience
• Management experience is strongly preferred
• Superior communication, interpersonal and negotiating skills
• Solid knowledge of commercial underwriting with the ability to analyze risks
• Demonstrated technical expertise and product specific knowledge with experience handling Life Science business
• Strong analytical skills including financial analysis
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to effectively interact with both internal and external business partners
• Ability to be creative and adaptable in a changing business environment
