About the role

Maintain the original aesthetics and function of the animated figures, props, and sets within the Rides and Shows. The responsibilities will include cleaning, repairing, installing, and finishing/painting skins, shells, costumes, props, and set pieces as well as access into these assets for Ride and Show Mechanics.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and install flexible and non-flexible skins, coverings (including costumes, wigs, fur, and feathers), and support structures for animated figures.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and install flexible and non-flexible skins, coverings (including costumes, wigs, fur, and feathers), and support structures for animated figures.
  • Maintain sets within Rides and Shows to include planning/preparing for work, cleaning, sculpting, construction, painting, cleaning of work area, and documenting work.
  • Maintain sets within Rides and Shows to include planning/preparing for work, cleaning, sculpting, construction, painting, cleaning of work area, and documenting work.
  • Maintain, fabricate, and install show props to include planning/preparing for work, cleaning, molding, casting, construction, finishing/painting, cleaning of work area, and documenting work.
  • Maintain, fabricate, and install/embed fasteners and attachments for animated figures, sets, and props.
  • Inspect figures, sets, props, shop facilities, equipment, and tools for any wear/damage and document findings.
  • Assist Ride and Show Maintenance with access into figures, props, and sets for their inspections and repairs to include mechanical disassembly and assembly of parts related to animated figures.

Requirements

  • High school degree or GED is required
  • Associate’s degree is preferred – Visual Arts, Scenery Production, Technical Theater, Costuming or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred – Visual Arts, Scenery Production, Technical Theater, Costuming or equivalent

  • Knowledge of all techniques, materials, and tools involved in silicone skin repair, fiberglass repair and finishing, scenic painting, faux finishing, airbrushing, automotive painting, carpentry, sculpting, mold making, casting, fabrication, sewing, costuming, patterning, wig care, mechanical work, and problem solving will be utilized.
