About the role

The Tumwater Torts Litigation Team consists of 6 Assistant Attorneys General (AAGs) and 11 professional staff. This position directly supervises the team’s 6 AAGs and leads the full team in defense of Torts cases.

Responsibilities

  • Lead one of the teams, overseeing a group of attorneys and paralegals
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to attorneys of varying experience levels
  • Handle complex litigation cases
  • Foster the professional development of a dynamic team within the AGO
  • Collaborate with other leaders within the Torts Division to develop and implement strategies

Requirements

  • An expressed interest in the practice of public sector law
  • Excellent writing and oral advocacy skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Judgment and discretion in handling sensitive issues
  • Extensive mediation experience
  • Litigation experience, in particular as insurance defense counsel
