About the role
The Tumwater Torts Litigation Team consists of 6 Assistant Attorneys General (AAGs) and 11 professional staff. This position directly supervises the team’s 6 AAGs and leads the full team in defense of Torts cases.
Responsibilities
- Lead one of the teams, overseeing a group of attorneys and paralegals
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to attorneys of varying experience levels
- Handle complex litigation cases
- Foster the professional development of a dynamic team within the AGO
- Collaborate with other leaders within the Torts Division to develop and implement strategies
Requirements
- An expressed interest in the practice of public sector law
- Excellent writing and oral advocacy skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Judgment and discretion in handling sensitive issues
- Extensive mediation experience
- Litigation experience, in particular as insurance defense counsel
