About the role

Ascension is hiring a AVP of Clinical Education to lead systemwide nursing education and workforce development. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of clinical learning while advancing our mission of compassionate, high-quality care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all clinical education initiatives across the organization.
  • Support the development, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive programming ensuring students and associates are equipped with latest knowledge, skills, and best practices.
  • Shape the strategic direction of educational programs by identifying educational priorities and initiatives to align with the organization’s mission and strategic goals, leveraging predictive analytics, regulatory foresight, and performance data to guide evidence-based planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Lead and scale comprehensive transition-to-practice programs anchored in American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL) and American Nurses Credentialing Center Practice Transition Accreditation Program (ANCC PTAP) standards embedding Association for Nursing Professional Development (ANPD) Scope and Standards across roles.
  • Implement an annual, evidence-based learning cycle (assessment, planning, delivery, evaluation) informed by regulatory risks, business priorities, performance data, and national clinical education standards.
  • Embed the ANPD Scope and Standards across the system; build certification and fellowship programs; incorporate Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE) and national clinical standards.
  • Scale platforms (eg , Elsevier, Dossier) and use predictive analytics to forecast needs, evaluate program impact and inform the role-specific performance of Market Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Directors consistent with nursing strategic priorities.
  • Establish mission-aligned, performance-driven academic partnerships (A-P) with shared strategic priorities, guiding curriculum input, adjunct faculty roles, and operational collaboration with the Center for Career Advancement (CCA), Human Resources, and Community Impact teams to strengthen the nursing pipeline and meet future workforce demands.

Requirements

  • Licensure / Certification / Registration: Registered Nurse obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Education: Master's of Science in Nursing required. Doctorate preferred AND 7 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required, with 4 of those years being in leadership/management.
