About the role
The Cardiovascular Invasive Laboratory Specialist II (CILS II) performs a wide range of technical skills, which are utilized during a variety of Diagnostic Cardiovascular, Non-ablation Electrophysiology or Interventional Radiology procedures to provide an efficient, comfortable, and safe examination of all patients.
Responsibilities
- Perform a wide range of technical skills during various Diagnostic Cardiovascular, Non-ablation Electrophysiology or Interventional Radiology procedures
- Proficient in all aspects of angiography, preparation, assessment, documentation and monitoring
- Follow CDC isolation guidelines, appropriately uses PPE, and performs hand hygiene according to accepted standards of care
- Identify and prepare patients using aseptic technique as dictated by procedure ordered
- Ensure adherence to regulatory standards and enforces safety regulations
- Verify orders and facilitate implementation, communicating with physician as needed
- Perform treatments and administer medications according to policy and training
- Evaluate effectiveness of interventions and medications
- Perform within the bounds of the applicable scope of practice for Cardiovascular Invasive Lab Technologists
- Facilitate timely patient throughput
- Produce an accurately written, promptly completed medical record for each patient based on the scope and complexity of the intervention procedure and patient clinical conditions
- Maintain authenticity and security of the record, and follows prescribed process for amending documents
- Perform effectively in all three procedural roles (circulate, monitor, scrub) required in a therapeutic cardiac laboratory team based on the Society of Invasive Cardiovascular Professionals Scope of Practice
- Take call as rotated/assigned and responds (in hospital) per policy
- Proficiently performs diagnostic coronary procedures, diagnostic electrophysiology procedures, interventional radiology procedures, peripheral diagnostic and/or interventional procedures
- Learns and upgrades skills
- Utilizes knowledge base to assist with orientation, training, and education of new personnel
- Provides training for procedures within their competency
Requirements
- Associate OR Bachelor's degree in Cardiovascular Technology, Emergency Medical Services, Nursing, Radiologic Technology or Respiratory Therapy
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Current valid State of Florida or multi-state license as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Radiologic Technologist [R.T.(R)]
- Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)
- Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES)
- National Registry of Paramedics (NREMT-P)
