Patient Sitter PRN

Responsible for providing continuous observation and monitoring for high-risk patients to ensure safety. This position collaborates with the patient care team to maintain a safe environment and minimize risks of falls and self-harm. This role ensures the patient environment is free of obstacles. In addition, this role may assist with basic activities of daily living. Additionally, this role documents observations and communicates any changes in patient status to the healthcare team.

• Responsible for providing continuous observation and monitoring for high-risk patients to ensure safety.
• Collaborates with the patient care team to maintain a safe environment and minimize risks of falls and self-harm.
• Ensures the patient environment is free of obstacles.
• Assists nursing staff with tasks such as transporting patients, delivering equipment and supplies, transporting specimens, delivering patient trays, answering phones, and assisting visitors when not providing direct patient observation.
• Intervenes to prevent patient self-harm or harm to others and seeks immediate assistance for escalating incidents.
• Demonstrates knowledge and respect for patient rights to privacy and confidentiality.
• Creates clear and accurate documentation of patient status and activities during shift.
• Promotes positive patient interactions and advocates for patients and family-centered care in all decisions and actions.
• Demonstrates excellent communication skills, ensuring clear understanding among patients, physicians, and colleagues.
• Participates as an active member of the healthcare team, promoting teamwork and maintaining professionalism.

• High School Grad or Equiv
• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS)
