About the role

The Logistics Compliance Manager will manage the logistics compliance program that includes import, export and hazardous materials process and ensures compliance with U.S. and foreign government laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the logistics compliance program that includes import, export and hazardous materials process and ensures compliance with U.S. and foreign government laws and regulations.
  • Work with multiple business owners across the organization to define strategy, requirements, and timeframes for import, export and hazmat compliance policies/processes, and manage them to completion.
  • Directs the workflow, motivates, trains and monitors the performance of team members.
  • Responsible for hirings, terminations, performance reviews and enable and focus on talent development and succession planning.
  • Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with team members.
  • Monitors work processes and makes suggestions for modifications to increase and improve productivity, efficiency and accuracy for improving costs; implements changes as directed or needed.
  • Supports compliance with all appropriate policies, procedures, safety rules and government regulations.
  • Must be willing to work extended hours, split shifts and some weekends as needed to meet productivity goals.
  • Coordinate with customer service, supply chain, and quality to ensure fluid supply chain.
  • Provide day-to-day import and export internal control and supply chain security guidance to ICS and Cencora’s distribution centers.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding Harmonized Tariff Schedule and Schedule B classification, ECCN classifications, documentation requirements, and import and export regulations to ensure timely clearance.
  • Develop SOPs and deliver customs compliance training on a regular basis for internal stakeholders.
  • Communicate subject matter guidance regarding the requirements and interpretation of import, export and supply chain security regulations and implement such requirements.
  • Support reasonable care and supply chain security initiatives through research, audits, and action item development.
  • Assist in the development of tools and performance reports to provide awareness and measure effectiveness of import, export controls and supply chain security compliance programs.
  • Assist in the maintenance of import, export controls and supply chain security compliance records in accordance with governmental regulations.
  • Translate business needs and requirements into defined program roadmaps, strategies and processes through collaboration with various stakeholders.
  • Determine resource needs and present recommendations to ensure programs deliver their intended results.
  • Develop certified hazardous materials training programs for internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance to CFR 20, CFR40, IATA and IMDG for product handling, storage and transport.
  • Identify regulatory risks in product mix and offer risk mitigation.
  • Own the ongoing operational execution of the program, coordinating internal resources and leading cross functional teams to ensure all program stakeholders are fulfilling their responsibilities successfully.
  • Drive the definition of technical system enhancements and the prioritization of related projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Three (3) plus years of experience creating or owning a compliance program and projects including cross functional teams
  • Experience in international export, customs operations or hazmat experience
  • Must have a strong focus on continuous improvement
  • Must have a strong technical aptitude with an ability to understand program technical requirements
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated experience in presenting information to executive leadership
  • Must be able to work independently and autonomously
  • Strong analytical, organizational and planning skills
  • International Customs experience, including Export Administration and Bureau of Industry and Security regulations.
  • Strong working knowledge and experience with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and policies.
  • Strong working knowledge and experience in export compliance policies and audit procedures.
  • TSA experience a plus.
  • Must have working knowledge of Hazardous Material/Dangerous Goods transportation regulations (49 CFR, IATA, and IMDG), operations, and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of United Parcel Service and Federal Express shipping requirements including packaging, marking, labeling, and documentation
